Weekend Box Lunch Program:
Developed to close the nutrition gap among low-income school children, this program aims to distribute lunches on Fridays throughout the year, so that children have something to eat over the weekend when the school cafeterias are unavailable.
The three beneficiary groups are the low-income students of Marilyn Avenue, Portola Avenue, and Joe Michell schools in Livermore, and the children of single parents at Arroyo Vista Community Housing in Dublin. Nutritious box lunches are prepared on Thursdays at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, 460 North Livermore Avenue by a team of teen volunteers. The lunches are then distributed every Friday to the Marilyn Avenue students at Marilyn Avenue School, 800 Marylin Avenue, to the Joe Michell students at Joe Michell School, 1001 Elaine Avenue, to the Portola Avenue students at Vineyard Christian Church, and directly delivered to the Arroyo Vista residents at 6700 Dougherty Rd, Dublin.
